Brew Guide: Chemex

Follow these steps for a clean, balanced cup.

1. Rinse the Filter

Place the Chemex filter in the brewer and rinse it with hot water.

2. Discard the Water

After rinsing, discard the water from the Chemex.
This warms the brewer and removes any paper taste.

3. Add Coffee

Add 23 grams of semi-fine ground SQ1 coffee to the filter and level the coffee bed.

4. Start the Bloom

Pour 50 grams of water over the coffee in a gentle circular motion, starting in the center.

Tip: Never exceed 3× the coffee weight during the bloom.

5. Wait for the Bloom

Allow the coffee to bloom for 30 seconds.

6. Continue Pouring

Pour water in center pulses until you reach 360 grams total water.

7. Let It Finish Brewing

Allow the water to fully filter through the coffee.
This should take about 30–60 seconds.

8. Serve and Enjoy

Once brewing is complete, pour into your favorite mug and enjoy a clean, bright cup.
