How to Craft SQ1 Cold Brew

The laid-back way to get big coffee flavor.

When the temperatures rise, cold brew becomes a summer staple. Its smooth body, low acidity and refreshing finish make it perfect for slow mornings, sunny afternoons and keeping a pitcher ready in the fridge all week long.

Our favorite coffee for cold brew? Low & Slow. Its rich, chocolate-forward profile creates a smooth and balanced cup that's easy to enjoy black or with a splash of cream.

SQ1 Cold Brew Recipe

Using a 12 oz Bag (340 grams) of Coffee

Yield: ~55 oz concentrate (~110 oz ready to drink)
Dose: 12 oz SQ1 Low & Slow
Grind: Auto-Drip
Water: 20 oz HOT + 48 oz COLD
Dilution: 50/50

Instructions

  1. Measure 12 oz of SQ1 Low & Slow.
  2. Grind coffee on auto-drip.
  3. Place ground coffee into the container, making an even, flat bed of coffee.
  4. Pour the hot water (20 oz) on top of the grounds.
  5. Stir the grounds and water for 20 seconds.
  6. Let sit for 2–3 minutes undisturbed.
  7. Add cold water (48 oz) to the coffee mixture.
  8. Cover, label, and set a reminder to strain the coffee in 18 hours.
  9. After 18 hours, pour the coffee through a mesh strainer into another container. Pour slowly to keep the grounds at the bottom undisturbed.
  10. Allow the strained coffee to settle for a few minutes, then repeat the straining process to remove any remaining particles.
  11. Dilute 50/50 (coffee/water) for ready-to-drink cold brew.

Why We Love Cold Brew

Cold brew creates a smooth, mellow cup with lower perceived acidity than traditionally brewed coffee. It's easy to prepare ahead of time and stays ready in the fridge whenever you need it.

Whether you're heading to work, relaxing on the patio, or packing a cooler for the weekend, cold brew is one of the easiest ways to enjoy great coffee all summer long.
