Colombia Las Mercedes is a naturally-processed coffee from Finca Las Mercedes in Antioquia, owned by the Guerra family for four generations. Located near one of Antioquia's tallest mountains, this farm benefits from perfect altitude and climate for producing excellent specialty coffee while hosting diverse native flora and fauna. Of the farm's 386 hectares, 150 are dedicated to coffee production, while 236 hectares remain preserved as native forest and watershed—demonstrating the family's commitment to environmental stewardship.
The farm's coffee heritage began in 1960 when Eduardo Guerra Sánchez purchased Las Mercedes, originally a dairy farm. Drawing on his coffee farming background, Don Eduardo planted small coffee parcels, but the farm continued primarily producing milk until his son Alfonso Guerra Velez took control 20 years later. Don Alfonso planted 150,000 coffee trees in just his first few years, transforming the farm's economic focus to specialty coffee. Today, Juan Carlos Guerra, the fourth generation, actively manages the farm with an increasing emphasis on quality improvements and specialty coffee excellence.
This naturally processed coffee delivers fruity complexity with notes of red grapes, blackberries, and cranberry, complemented by rich base notes of chocolate and toffee. The natural processing enhances the coffee's inherent fresh-fruit character and creates a creamy mouthfeel. It's delicious enjoyed black or with milk.
Perfect for those seeking sweet, creamy coffees with pronounced fruit character. Colombia Las Mercedes represents four generations of coffee farming excellence and demonstrates how traditional Colombian coffee farms are embracing innovative processing methods to create exceptional specialty coffees.
