About Colombia Patio Bonito Java

Patio Bonito is a family-run farm in Caldono, Cauca, Colombia, led by Carlos Arturo Trujillo and his daughter, Paola Trujillo.

Carlos has been growing coffee for nearly 50 years. Paola brings a trained sensory perspective from her years working as a cupper and buyer in Nariño and Huila. Since returning to the farm, she has helped refine the family’s approach to fermentation, washing, and drying, bringing a new level of precision to Patio Bonito’s already deep coffee tradition.

The farm is 11 hectares in total, with 9 hectares planted in coffee and 47,000 trees across 13 varieties. This lot is a washed Java Variety Select microlot, meaning the coffee was intentionally separated by variety to highlight Java’s unique flavor potential.

In the cup, Colombia Patio Bonito Java is elegant and expressive: floral aromatics, candy-like sweetness, a crisp sparkling acidity, and soft fruit notes that remind us of apricot and peach. As it cools, the cup becomes rounder and sweeter—like peach candy—with hints of citrus zest.

What makes this coffee special is not simply that it is limited. It is the combination of family history, careful selection, thoughtful processing, and a farm philosophy rooted in stewardship, love, knowledge, and a planet worth passing on.

It is delicate, expressive, and deeply cared for—the kind of coffee that reminds us why small lots matter.
