Ethiopia Banko Gotiti
Grade 1 natural Ethiopian Yirgacheffe with hints of raspberries, blueberries, and milk chocolate.
Ethiopia Banko Gotiti is a Grade 1 coffee from the Banko Gotiti cooperative in the renowned Yirgacheffe region of southern Ethiopia. Founded in 2012, this cooperative has approximately 300 members who grow a mix of indigenous Ethiopian heirloom varieties across small plots in the village of Banko Gotiti within the Worka area. The natural processing method, combined with meticulous attention to detail throughout harvesting and drying, creates a fruit-forward coffee with remarkable complexity and sweetness.
Grown at elevations between 1,600-2,300 meters above sea level, this coffee showcases the vibrant fruit character that natural processing brings to already exceptional Ethiopian beans. We taste juicy, sweet notes of blueberry jam, milk chocolate, and ripe peach. As the coffee cools, it continues to sweeten and develop winey hints of raspberry, creating a dynamic tasting experience that evolves beautifully from hot to warm. The Grade 1 designation indicates the highest quality level, ensuring only the finest cherries make it through processing.
Following traditional Ethiopian smallholder farming practices, the cooperative members grow coffee on tiny plots alongside other crops, without fertilizers or pesticides. This organic approach allows the natural terroir and indigenous heirloom varieties to express themselves fully. Coffee cherries are delivered to the cooperative's washing station where they're sorted, processed as naturals, and dried on raised beds—a method that concentrates sugars and develops the coffee's characteristic jammy sweetness.
Perfect for those who love fruit-forward, naturally-processed coffees with pronounced berry character. Ethiopia Banko Gotiti represents exceptional naturally processed Ethiopian coffee and showcases why Yirgacheffe remains celebrated worldwide for producing some of the most exciting and complex specialty coffees.
