The full story

Rwanda Cyato Washing Station

A vibrant washed Bourbon from Rwanda with juicy notes of cherry, blood orange, and plum.

This coffee comes from the Abadatezuka Cooperative, whose members cultivate coffee on the steep hillsides of Rwanda's Western Province before delivering freshly picked cherries to the Cyato Washing Station. Established in 2017, the station works with producers from several surrounding communities, transforming carefully harvested fruit into beautifully clean and expressive coffees.

Bordering Lake Kivu and the ancient Nyungwe Forest, this region offers an exceptional environment for coffee. High elevations, fertile soils, cool mountain air, and the area's native honeybees all contribute to the remarkable sweetness and complexity found in the cup. The farmers also grow their coffee without synthetic fertilizers or pesticides.

The result is a coffee that's vibrant and juicy from the very first sip. Notes of cherry and red grape become increasingly jam-like as the coffee cools, while a lively blood orange acidity sweetness into plum, making every sip feel fresh, and layered.
