About [Wholesale] Guatemala Huehuetenango

This is a pristine example of the exceptional coffees produced in Western Guatemala's renowned Huehuetenango region. Located in the rugged highlands of Guatemala near the Mexican border, this extremely diverse area is celebrated throughout Latin America for producing some of the finest specialty coffees. The indigenous population plays a vital role in coffee production here, with the coffee industry accounting for roughly 80 percent of the local economy.

Coffee farming in Guatemala's highlands presents unique challenges due to extreme altitude and mountainous terrain. Growing coffee at elevations between 1,400-2,200 meters requires dedication and skill, and we've witnessed firsthand the extraordinary effort these farmers invest in producing exceptional quality beans. Despite these challenges, or perhaps because of them, Guatemalan coffee farmers have earned well-deserved respect for their commitment to quality and their ability to produce consistently excellent specialty coffee. In this case, the kudos go to 76 smallholder farmers.

While Guatemala shares many farming traditions with its Central American neighbors, it stands apart for its abundant water sources, nutrient-rich volcanic soil, and sharply defined microclimates—all of which contribute to its remarkable cup character.

In the cup, this coffee is bright and complex, offering notes of pomegranate and white grape. As it cools, delicate florals—think honeysuckle and chamomile—begin to bloom, finishing with a soft, almond-like nuttiness. However you brew it, this coffee is layered, expressive, and undeniably delicious.
